Oxfordshire's only dedicated military history museum, SOFO offers its visitors engaging and immersive experiences through both changing exhibitions and permanent galleries, which include a recreated Great War trench, a mock up section of a D-Day Horsa Glider and a wide range of other interactive exhibits.
Our permanent galleries tell the stories of the famous WW2 battles of the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, provide a look at the life of a 21st century soldier and even shed light on the ‘Secret War’ of espionage and intelligence operations.

Discover the story of Winston Churchill in the Queens Own Oxfordshire Hussars, as well as other prominent names that served with them such as Valentine Fleming, father to Bond author Ian Fleming.
Experiences of both soldiers and survivors are recounted in our Liberation of Bergen-Belsen exhibit, while POWs: At Home and Abroad gives an insight into local people that became prisoners of war, as well as the many prisoner of war camps that were built in the county itself.
Concessionary rates apply to over 60s, Armed Forces Personnel, and students.
