The Story of Derry exhibition takes visitors on a high-tech audio-visual narrative tour of the city using a wide range of techniques and artefacts to narrate the story from monastic times, Plantation, Siege of Derry, through to the growth of Derry during the 18th and 19th centuries through to the troubles and the peace process. Its all here and exemplified by models and a wide range of artefacts. The Spanish Armada exhibition recreates, with great authenticity the fateful voyage of one of the ships “La Trinidad Valencera” that was discovered nearly 400 years after it foundered in treacherous waters off the coast of Donegal in Kinnegoe Bay on 20th Feb, 1971. What remains of the ship and the artefacts have found their ultimate home. Visitors can access the glorious Roof Top where you can take breathtaking images of the city. Get hands-on in our interactive Discovery Zone and everything from Archelogy to woodlands. Plus, you can experience our amazing New Virtual Reality Tide Experience, featured on Migration Heritage taking you on a journey from Derry to New York in search of a better life inspired by 19th Century Passenger diaries.
